See his website for his recollections about being in the movie.

Some recent (4/19/19) correspondence and a pic of the electric violin he used in the movie.

"Hopefully a pic of what's left of the fiddle attached. My main fiddle was the one you see and hear mostly in the film. I kind of built the electric fiddle myself for a folk rock band I was in with Gary Carpenter and Andy Thompkins and others called Hockett. I bought a really cheap fiddle (about £1.50 in modern money) stuffed it with cotton wool to prevent feedback, sprayed it black and put a DeArmond pickup on it! It sounded awful!!

Gary and I were in a barn dance band while we were at school and I was a morris dancer (did Cotswold, clog, rapper and longsword, and a bit of Scottish as well would you believe!). In fact we used Tenpenny Bit for the rapper. So all these tunes were floating around and being played in various bands we were all in at the time so I think Gary just picked the ones he felt were appropriate (Tenpenny Bit is actually Irish of course!)."

(I wrote back and here is his reply)

"Yes by all means share it. I was in Chingford Morris (North London/Essex) as a boy at school and then the adults club. It eventually split to form Albion Morris which formed to dance to electric music performed by Ashley Hutchings' Albion Band (I went with taht arm). I finally stopped dancing with them around 10 years ago. Our barn dance is kind of cross between Ceildh and English Country Dancing for complete novices, no finesse but loads of fun! I think in terms of approach it would be medium rowdy!

Yes I have performed at Sidmouth with  different acts over the years Chingford and Albion Morris, Bully Wee Band, Hot Rats......

As for the Abbott's Bromley Horn Dance, it's one of my favourite tunes ever. Here's a sample of the one I prefer https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=abbots+bromley+horn+dance+tune&view=detail&mid=8EA5FB37B33E01E0372C8EA5FB37B33E01E0372C&FORM=VIRE

The story is that the horns are stored in the church and only allowed out on Mayday! I guess it's more the mystical approach I prefer."
