The Anchor Bay boxed set of 2001 had a version of the Director's Cut which was slightly different from the original which came out on VHS in 1978. Canal+ owned the film at that time. John Alan Simon writes: "Their release of the the long version on DVD on Anchor Bay was from the old video master that we had created for the original release on videocassette and for the initial cable runs of the film." (There are a number of issues with the VHS versions too which you can read about on the VHS page here.)

1 - As Howie flies to Summerisle, there is graphic that lists the band as Magnet whereas the VHSs had them listed as Lodestone. Additionally on the VHSs, Paul Giovanni gets credited for singing Corn Rigs and Gently Johnny whereas the DVD (and all future releases on whatever format) had him only credited for singing Corn Rigs.
2 - On the VHSs of the Director's Cut, Howie has more of a speech when he is in the Wicker Man. One close-up of him speaking (seen on the VHSs) was replaced with a shot of Lord Summerisle walking back to the crown and making a signal with his arm. That shot gets repeated a little later on.
